The Filthy Dukes were a band that played on the same stage as us at the Lovebox festival after us and they had a fantastic idea for marketing themselves. They gave away these blue balloons to everyone in the crowd, or atleast to as many people as they could and when the band came on stage to perform, there was a nice sprinkling of blue balloons in the crowd! I thought it was a fantastic idea!

Allegro Fudge

A while back, I had asked all of you to suggest a name for the band I was playing with. A lot of interesting suggestions came up, but what stuck was “Allegro Fudge” which was suggested by none other than Derek Sivers himself! Infact, it was suggested as a spur of the moment thing and without even knowing what it was for! But it was unique and just stuck with the band! Thanks a ton Derek for that suggestion, who knows, someday ..!

So after about a year of meeting and putting song ideas together and getting things in place, we finally are ready to unleash ourselves on the whole wide world! or atleast our circle of friends.

We have always wanted to play our first show for our friends whom we personally invite and ask for their feedback after the show and while we planned to do it initially in Jason’s house, we thought of Opus and the Sunday brunch was just too perfect a chance to pass up

So tomorrow, we premiere a lot of the original material we have written (we’ve written enough for a full length album BTW) and a couple of covers we thought would be fun to do! and we’d love to have some feedback from the everyone who comes to the show about the band and the music and what you liked and more importantly, what you din’t like!

If you are in Bangalore, please do consider this a personal invitation to come to Opus at 2 PM and watch Allegro Fudge’s debut show and after that, please do take some time to send us mail, or just post a comment or even catch one of us and tell us what you think of it all!

Swarathma Album Launch – Bangalore

My friends from Swarathma launched their debut album in Bangalore earlier this week. I have been following this band’s progress for a couple of years now and infact one of the first few shows that they played was with my earlier band ‘Phenom‘ at the RadioCity Live gig at Palace Grounds.

From those days, they have grown into a much nicer and better band and are on their way to developing a unique style for themselves. Their album is a collation of street art from around India especially on the backs of Lorrys! So it was just fitting that the poster outside Opus where they launched had these cheezy serial lights to give it a very rural dhaba feel :p

Dog Bomb

The pavement on the main street in Harajuku is lined up with bands that play their own music, get their own set up, right from the drum kits to the PA to even the audience sometimes!

This band we saw was called ‘Dog Bomb‘ and they were highly impressive with influences from RATM, SlipKnot, Limp Bizkit etc… They were hard hitting and going for it even though there were about 6 people in the audience, they were putting up the show of their lives!

Vijay and I bought 2 of their CDs and they were just over the moon that someone did that for them! There is still passion left in music
