I met Philip in one of the markets in Dimapur. He had heard about the Raghu Dixit Project having come to play a show in Dimapur and he said he like our kind of music. He then took me to his shop and showed me all the painting work he does in his shop.

He was really lovely and I decided I should give him a CD of the band’s music which I did and he was just blown away that I did that. The band was headed to Itanagar the next day and Philip’s father-in-law stayed in Itanagar, so he promised me that he would get his father-in-law to come meet me and give me a painting of his.

True to his word, his father-in-law came, met me and gave me the most amazing charcoal sketch, framed and packed to take back to Bangalore. To this day, its one of the best things I have ever got as a gift!

I am going to be traveling with ‘The Raghu Dixit Project‘ on a 7 city tour of the North East of India as part of the Roots Music Festival. We are traveling with 4 other bands, Too Late Lucy from the UK, Dub LFO from Israel and 2 musicians from the North East, Guru Rewben Mahsanghwa and Warklung.

It has always been my dream to travel to the North East, right from when Sashi in college described the place to me. This is one trip I shall not want to miss for the world!
